We are pleased to announce that the President of the Republic of Poland, Andrzej Duda, has conferred the academic title of professor in the field of engineering and technical sciences upon Ph.D. Hab. Eng. Marcin Janicki, an employee of the Department.
Professor Marcin Janicki is a graduate of the master's program in Electronics at Lodz University of Technology. He wrote his master's thesis in 1994 while studying at Ecole Nationale Supérieure d'Electricité et Mécanique in Nancy, France. In 1996, he also completed master's studies in Finance and Banking at the University of Łódź. He successfully completed his doctoral studies at Lodz University of Technology with honors in 1999. During these studies in the academic year 1997/1998, he completed an internship at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow.
After obtaining his doctoral degree in the academic year 2000/2001, he completed an internship at Ghent University in Belgium. He also spent the academic year 2007/2008 at the Radon Institute for Computational and Applied Mathematics of the Austrian Academy of Sciences in Linz. In 2012, he defended his habilitation thesis titled "Inverse heat transfer problems in electronics." He has been employed at the Department of Microelectronics and Computer Science at Lodz University of Technology continuously since 1999.
Prof. Janicki's research interests mainly focus on multidomain modeling of electronic devices and systems, with a particular emphasis on thermal models. The simulator developed by him significantly shortens the duration of thermal simulations and greatly enhances their accuracy, enabling the optimization of electronic systems both during the design phase and for real-time temperature monitoring.
For over 10 years, Prof. Janicki has actively participated in activities aimed at increasing the employability of university graduates and their international mobility, including within the framework of Erasmus program projects. In 2008, he also joined the activities of the Lodz University Children's University of Lodz University of Technology, conducting workshops for primary school teachers as part of a Horizon 2020 program project.
He has been involved in numerous scientific and educational projects funded by national and international sources, leading 6 of them. He is a co-author of 217 scientific publications, including 31 articles in journals from the JCR Master Journal List. In recognition of his significant contributions to the modernization of study programs and efforts towards internationalization of the university, he was awarded the Bronze Medal for Long Service in 2010, and the Medal of the Commission of National Education in 2012.
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Professor Janicki and wish him many achievements in his scientific and educational endeavors!
